Hydrocortisone Cream (Hytone, Bactine, Cort-Dome) OTC=0.5%, RX= > 1%

Category:

  • Corticosteroid

Description:

  • Anti-inflammatory, antiprutitic

Indications:

  • Temporary relief of minor skin irritations, itching, and rashes due to eczema, insect bites, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and jewelry

Contraindications:

  • Generally, children <2 years

Warnings:

  • External use only

  • Avoid contact with eyes

  • May mask symptoms of fungal infection

  • Reevaluate if symptoms persist more than 7 days

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • SKIN: burning, irritation, dryness, skin atrophy

Dosage:

Administered topically: Apply to affected area as a thin film not more that 3-4 times daily
