PSA (Prostate-Specific
Antigen)

The PSA is used to screen for prostate cancer, and to follow the
effectiveness of treatment of prostate cancer.
- Large increases are seen in prostate cancer.
- Moderate increases are seen in benign prostatic hypertrophy.
- Mild increases are seen following prostate examination, and
occasionally in normal individuals.
