Dexbrompheniramine and Pseudoephedrine (Drixoral)

Description:

  • Antihistamine and sympathomimetic

Indications:

  • allergic rhinitis

Contraindications:

  • Severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease

  • Hypersensitivity to sympathomimetics

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • Angina, prostatic hypertrophy, heart disease

  • Mild to moderate hypertension, increased intracranial pressure, diabetes mellitus

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • drowsiness, lethargy, anxiety, confusion, headache, tremors

  • dysrhythmias, tachycardia

  • anorexia, nausea, vomiting

Dosage:

Administered orally (sustained release tablet or capsule, tablet or capsule)

  • Adult: 

    • PO SUS REL 1 tablet or capsule every 12 hours; 

    • PO tablet 1 every 4-6 hours
